Designed multiple experiences for Domino's India mobile app

During my one-year journey as a Product Designer at Domino's, I contributed to various impactful projects, including designing the tipping feature, introducing subcategories to the main menu and developing the Group Ordering feature.

Role

Product Designer, collaborating with 2 PMs and 1 Designer Manager

Duration

12 Months, From Jun' 22 to Jun'23

Feature 1 : Tipping Feature Design

The Tip feature was designed to allow customers to tip the delivery partner and chef at Domino's. Since this was a new addition to the app's cart, I included a top bar component to introduce the feature to customers. To draw attention to the tip card, I added a subtle blinking effect.

Lastly, I created a GIF expressing gratitude to customers, enhancing the overall experience with a delightful touch.

Hi-Fidelity Design & Prototype

This is the prototype I made to better understand the interaction and also to explain it to the developers.

Feature 2 : Introducing Sub Categories in the Menu

I conducted research to identify pain points in the menu design and then implemented a redesign by adding subcategories within the main menu categories. This enhancement addressed several issues:

  • Improved discoverability of categories that were previously less noticeable.

  • Assisted users in their selection journey, simplifying decision-making.

  • Reduced exhaustive scrolling within a single category, leading to quicker and more efficient decision-making.

Hi-Fidelity Design

On the top, Video relevant to the main category, gives a welcoming feedback to the user who has willingly chosen this category to order from

Secondly, Segregating pizzas as per taste/experience with some guidance text for user

Tags can be added to newer categories/ saver options

Lastly, Easy Toggle between different categories

Feature 3 : Group Ordering Feature

Pizza is a very social food—it is meant to be shared and enjoyed with others, which is why there is a need for feature where a group can order together and also have clarity in terms of number of pizza’s (including the size) to be ordered

Helpful in different types of events like Influencer parties/Corporate events/ college events/kitty Party where the host can share the link or print the QR code and participants can add their items.

How it will benefit Jubilant Foodworks?

  • Lead to higher BPO as everyone in the group has the power to add

  • "New user acquisition" eg: when in a office event every participant will be able to add his/her item

Homepage component and QR page

Designed a Pizza party component for Domino's Homepage. On the component there is a CTA to start a new group order. Since this is a new feature, we kept it on top to introduce it to users.

Once you start a new order, a new page with qr code opens which other users if present in the same location can quickly scan it from one users phone. Otherwise there is an option to share link.

Homepage after group order is started and the cart page

After a group order is started, there is card on the homepage that suggests quantity to users, it is based on the number of people who joins the group order.

In the cart only the organizer can checkout and below each item there is a mention of who added the item.

Reflection & Learnings

  • The biggest learning was how to work on visuals. My work experience at Domino's involved multiple projects where I had to work on visuals for their mobile app. I learned how to effectively design components with right sizing, color and placement.

  • Other learning was getting front end developed close to actual design. In my time at Domino's, I collaborated closely with front end developers where I learned how to effectively communicate designs to them.

  • Importance of prototypes, I learned how prototypes help in effective communication with product managers and developers. Also adding subtle motion to design makes it very intuitive for users.
